Q: Nuclear power has always been a topic that has sparked considerable debate. Some people argue that nuclear technology contributes to a more peaceful world and ease the energy shortage, while others offer dissenting opinions. Overall, I am more inclined to think that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

It is true that nuclear weapons play a part in maintaining security and peace. The power of nuclear weapons can be devastating, enabling them to deter terrorism and foreign invaders. In addition, nuclear energy has been a great hope for cutting emissions as it produces electricity using little carbon. It also creates a steady power supply- unlike renewables, which don't make electricity when the wind doesn't blow, or the Sun doesn't shine.

However, nuclear power cuts both ways. If nuclear weapons end up at the hands of countries of extremism, they will become not deterrents but tremendous threats to the earth. Therefore, the spread of nuclear has become one of the biggest challenges in the modern century. Nuclear safety is also a matter of considerable public concern. The tragedies of nuclear disasters have already created a picture of how dangerous nuclear energy is. Chornobyl, the world's worst civilian nuclear disaster, killed tens of thousands of people and attacked people nearby with cancers in the decades following. The environmental degradation caused by nuclear radiation leak is also an ongoing process. A study of fishes in the sea around a wrecked nuclear power station in Fukushima, Japan, suggests that the radioactivity continues to escape into the environment.

To sum up, nuclear is quite literally on the front line of world peace and energy crisis, but not in a good way. It is far from mitigating these issues and might even add to them. 听起来自然吗?
Q: NUCLEAR WEAPONS

I am of the opinion that nuclear weapons definitely be outlawed worldwide as soon as possible. If we don’t deal with this problem soon it is inevitable that we will suffer catastrophic consequences. It is the matter of human survival and a major threat to our existence.

First of all, the primary reason nuclear weapons should be banned is that they threaten every life on the planet. No one would deny that nuclear weapons are the most terrifying weapon ever invented. A nuclear detonated in a city would immediately kill tens of thousands of people and tens of thousands more would suffer horrific injuries, later die from radiation exposure. It is so dangerous to hold such destructive weapons worldwide that it should be banned.

Secondly, it costs lots of money to possess nuclear weapons. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the United States spends an estimated $ 34.8 billion per year to maintain, operate and upgrade its nuclear weapon arsenal. It is doubtful whether it is worth spending a lots of money on such weapons that may only ruin us.

Lastly, nuclear weapons are dangerous to develop and maintain. For example, Japanese people were killed in a hydrogen bomb test at Bikini Atoll. We must not forget that the probability for similar accidents happens.

For the reasons mentioned above, it is a truism that nuclear weapons should be banned worldwide. 听起来自然吗?
