Heavy drinking contributed to her death.
-> Her death is attributed to heavy dringkingdrinking.
-> Her death is attributed to heavy dringkingdrinking.
(I attribute her death to heavy dringkingdrinking.)
(I attribute her death to heavy dringkingdrinking.)
All of these sentences are grammatically correct, but the meanings are slightly different. “Heavy drinking contributed to her death” means that heavy drinking was one of the causes of her death but not necessarily the only cause. “Her death is attributed to heavy drinking” means that heavy drinking was the cause of her death
