What's the difference between " a trip" and " a journey" ?
Why can't I use " a trip" in this sentence?
It takes five hours from London to Strasbourg, so it's a long journey.

“Trip” and “journey” are mostly synonyms.

“Trip” tends to be shorter than a “journey”. It can also refer to traveling to a place, staying there for a short period of time and then return.

“Journey” tends to be longer in distance. It focuses mostly on the traveling from one place to another by land, sea or air, and sometimes with multiple destinations.

Therefore, it’s more suitable to use “journey” in your case.

Trip means both the journey and the visit to the place (and the return journey). You can use it to mean just the journey, but I think of it more like “I went on a trip to Brighton at the weekend” - the whole journey and visit.
