can someone please explain the grammar behind こともあり? someone told me it means something like "so" or ~だから but I still don't understand where it comes from.

This is the original sentence: キャンプでの仕事がなつかしくて、家から近いこともあり、今日、行ってみました。

家から近いこともあり
One of the reasons why I went there is that it's near my house.
I went there, for one thing, it was near my house.
