one in their father's eye 是什么意思？

Q: Brand some folks have used since they were just one in their father's eye
A: Gleem

I understood the answer is probably a word play of gleam, but some dictionary says, "gleam in their father's eye" means even before one is conceived. Isn't the answer should be "Green Apple" of something. ;-)

Another saying we have is "you're the apple of my eye."
It basically means that you're my favorite and the center of my attention.

And I thought the "one" in the question "Brand some folks have used since they were just one in their father's eye" was gleam, but I found an explanation that "gleam in their father's eye" meant even before you were born, so I was confused.
